SPECIALIST

AAPF is enthusiastically seeking an experienced Media Arts Specialist to join our team! This position is a full-time salaried role slated to be filled immediately.

Founded in 1996, The African American Policy Forum (AAPF) is an innovative think tank that connects academics, activists, and policy-makers to promote efforts to dismantle structural inequality. We utilize new ideas and innovative perspectives to transform public discourse and policy. We promote frameworks and strategies that address a vision of racial justice that embraces the intersections of race, gender, class, and the array of barriers that disempower those who are marginalized in society. AAPF is dedicated to advancing and expanding racial justice, gender equality, and the indivisibility of all human rights, both in the U.S. and internationally.

Media Arts Specialist

Reporting to the Arts & Media Director, the Media Arts Specialist will serve as a lead on the Arts and Media team providing artistic vision to multiple projects. The Media Arts Specialist will assist with production of AAPF’s Intersectionality Matters podcast, prepare audio video content for campaigns/initiatives, and design graphics to amplify AAPF campaigns/initiatives and other projects.

 

Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting in production of AAPF’s Intersectionality Matters podcast;

  • Designing graphics for AAPF events and initiatives;

  • Maintaining website by updating graphics and videos;

  • Supervising Arts and Media volunteers, fellows, interns;

  • Developing concepts, graphics and layouts for organizational reports, social media campaigns, event flyers, merchandise, and more;

  • Reviewing graphic assets from other AAPF team members, and suggesting improvements when needed;

  • Creating still and moving graphics for organizational videos; and

  • Contributing to organization-wide branding strategy.

The Ideal Candidate should have:

  • Familiarity with AAPF programs and initiatives;

  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills;

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite;

  • Mastery in Adobe Audition, Photoshop, and Premiere Pro; and

  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills.
